THREADTEX IS SUED OVER SEA ISLAND COTTON LABEL
NEW YORK (FNS) - Threadtex, Inc., a textile manufacturer here, was slapped with a multimillion dollar suit Wednesday, charging the company with fraudulently labeling its Egyptian cotton as Sea Island cotton, a considerably higher price fiber.
The suit, filed in federal court here, by the West Indian Sea Island Cotton Association, other Sea Island cotton organizations and various West Indies governments, alleged Threadtex started falsely labeling its products as Sea Island Cotton in 1981.
