I planted about 20 hills of comfrey around the outside border of the chicken run. From early spring to the first killing frost I can cut a bundle of fresh comfrey greens for the 10-12 laying hens. The plants regenerate to provide a continuous supply for the entire season. Spring cleaning of the henhouse provides mulch to control weeds.
I started with six root cuttings and split the crowns the second year to finish the border.
