PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local SULA RIVER VALLEY EXECUTIVE COMMISSION (CEVS) recently awarded a contract to Spain-based OBRASCON HUARTE LAIN (OHL) regarding the undertaking of a series of flood control projects in the country. As a result, work start-up is tentatively scheduled to begin in December 2001 or January 2002 at the latest.
Works will reportedly include: - Diverting the Chamelecon River through the city of La Lima,
which is currently plagued with annual flooding; - Raising and strengthening the streets and urban zones along the
riverbanks.
Project completion is scheduled for about 16 months after work start-up. In ...
