The A86 Paris outer relief road is now more than 80 percent complete, with the missing links to be provided by two tunnels which will tunnel under the western suburbs. Of these, the A86 West eastern tunnel is now under way after a two year delay, and the A86 West western tunnel is due to be commenced in 2003. The finished eastern tunnel will incorporate a twin deck roadway restricted to light vehicles, while the western tunnel will provide a two-way carriageway open to all normal sizes of vehicle.
