John Adams sort of paled as he sat when I responded to his query about where he could contact amateur operatic societies in the region. His reaction was not surprising: I had handed him a list of about 150 telephone numbers and the enormity of his undertaking had suddenly been borne upon him.
He needs his recruits for the first professional production of Wallop Mrs Cox, the Brummie musical that was such a tremendous hit when it was premiered at Birmingham's Crescent Theatre in the summer of last year.
