Lockheed Martin Corp. won last week's Joint Strike Fighter competition over The Boeing Co. by sweeping the aircraft design and performance criteria established by the Pentagon.
Although Boeing bested Lockheed Martin on having a better management team and track record, it was not enough to tip the balance in a close competition.
The clincher for Lockheed Martin was its novel design of the JSF version that can hover as well as fly at supersonic speeds.
