Mount Sinai Medical Center, one of the city's most prestigious health care institutions, is hiring a turnaround specialist to fix its financial problems.
The academic medical center expects to sign a contract soon with The Hunter Group, a St. Petersburg, Fla., consulting firm with a reputation for doing the hard-nosed, distasteful cost-cutting that hospitals are loath to do themselves.
