PHOENIX _ It's amazing how things work out in baseball sometimes.
At the all-star break, Curt Schilling and Roger Clemens were the only 12-game winners in the majors. Baseball fans everywhere wanted to see them start against each other in the All-Star Game. Two big, gas-throwing righthanders. Charge up those radar guns and let's go.
The matchup was scheduled on paper, but it fell through when Schilling backed out of the start the night before because he wanted to save his bullets for the regular season.
