Millions of children can't wait to see the film version of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," which opens Nov. 16. Millions of others live in dread that the movie won't live up to the magic of J.K. Rowling's books, which have sold more copies than "Gone with the Wind."
Fans of the book (and its three sequels) have already had to get used to a blizzard of ancillary Harry Potter merchandise. Rowling has not exactly shied away from commercializing her fictional hero, the humble schoolboy Harry. ...
