A 49-year-old woman died in a car crash Friday night after she attempted to cross a highway in her Ford Escort.

Her car was struck at about 5:30 p.m. in the town of Westport at the intersection of Wisconsin 19, County I and Wisconsin 113. Authorities said a 1991 Ford F150 pickup truck crashed into the driver's side of the woman's car.

Dane County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hook said that the woman was trying to get from Wisconsin 113 to County I when the accident occurred.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her identity was being withheld until the notification of her relatives. The Dane County ...
