UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL NAMES COLLEGE FOOTBALL 'PLAYER OF THE YEAR'
WASHINGTON, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- University of Houston Quarterback Andre Ware today was named United Press International's college football "Player of the Year."
Ware, whose NCAA record-setting 1989 season earned him the first Heisman trophy ever to be awarded to a black quarterback, was named first-team quarterback on UPI's All-America team earlier this week.
