CARRIER USS KITTY HAWK REGAINS ITS SEA LEGS

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The aircraft carrier USS KITTY HAWK (CV-63), which is undergoing a 37-month overhaul, is back in the water for the first time in more than two years following a weekend undocking at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard.

Its return to the water marks the end of the dry dock phase of its overhaul under the Service Life Extension Program (SLEP). The overhaul, which is scheduled for completion in early 1991, is bringing an approximately $750 million into the Delaware Valley, providing employment for about 2,900 people daily.
