LIKE all youngsters, the pupils of Vernham Dean Gillums primary school saw Father Christmas as central to the magic of Christmas.
He was, after all, the man who came down the chimney to deliver their presents.
But their illusions were shattered when the local vicar told them Santa Claus didn't exist and that it was mummy and daddy who bought the gifts.
The Reverend Tom Goode was guest speaker at assembly at the school, near Andover, Hampshire.
