At a time when major telecom companies in India are rushing to build infrastructure for long distance and basic phone services, a short supply of optic fiber cable (OFC) is having a dampening effect. A large number of companies in the US, Europe and India have been laying thousands of kilometers of fiber to meet the rising demand for data and voice traffic, leading to the short supply.
