While classical Cassandras continue to cry about "marginalization" _ say it enough times and it may come true _ pop culture's dominant medium is enthusiastically failing to take notice.
Possibly the season's hottest movie, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," carries an all-orchestral soundtrack (Warner) that hit shelves last week. And while it may not be John Williams' most compelling music the whole way through, it has at least one tune that will likely take its place alongside the puffed-up bellicose "Star Wars" theme and the bicycle-soars-over-the-moon swell of "E.T." as unavoidably memorable. Iconic, even.
