CLEMSON, S.C. _ Safeties Charles Hafley and Eric Meekins have switched positions as defensive coordinator Reggie Herring attempts to mend Clemson's pass defense.
Hafley, the lone senior among Clemson's defensive backs, has moved to free safety. Meekins will play strong safety Saturday at Maryland.
The switch was made to put Clemson's most experienced defensive back, Hafley, in position to stop opposing receivers on deep routes. Florida State completed seven passes of 28 yards or more against the Tigers on Saturday.
