BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2001
Vulcan Materials Company (NYSE: VMC) announced today that Sherrod B. "Mike" Clarke, Jr., (49) has been appointed President of the Company's Midsouth Division, which has its headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mr. Clarke, who joined Vulcan in 1979, most recently served as Vice President and General Manager of western Tennessee. Mr. Clarke is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a CPA. The appointment is effective December 1, 2001.
