The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) announced today a $15 million grant to open a clinical center at the University of Alberta, designed to study the treatment of juvenile diabetes (also known as Type 1 diabetes) through islet transplantation. The five-year grant is intended to sustain research into furthering the historic advances of the Edmonton Protocol diabetes research. The grant was announced at a JDRF fundraising gala this evening in Toronto, Canada.
