Minnesota's child-support system, which serves more than 270,000 children, is likely to undergo a major shakeup in the next legislative session, legislators said at a hearing Wednesday.
And if state child-support officials have their way, that new system would base support on the incomes of both parents instead of just the noncustodial parent. Additionally, the system would give a financial break to child-support payers who are raising other children in different homes.
