Election officials said Wednesday they will head to Lebanon today to double-check a voting machine to determine the winner of the town supervisor race, the closest contest in Madison County this year.
Unofficial vote totals as of Wednesday showed Democratic challenger James Goldstein ahead of incumbent Republican Harry Hatton, 182-173. There are five absentees to be counted, said Republican Election Commissioner Barbara Townsend.
Election officials did not know Wednesday if there are any affidavit votes to be counted.
