To the editor of The Post:
The terrorists have seemingly accomplished their purpose. They have made America afraid.
What other explanation is there for what has happened since Sept. 11? The stock market took a plunge as nervous investors showed their lack of faith in themselves and our institutions.
Then there is the great fear that has kept people from flying. We are in retreat at the first sign of difficulty on our shores.
What is worse is our desire to be protected by the government. As much as I admire President Bush, I have to strongly disagree with the institution of two new government agencies, one to combat terrorism and the ...
