Disagrees with writer's view of new coastal cruisers
In the April 2001 edition of your magazine, Capt. Henry Helgesen published a letter in Mail Bag with the headline "Nothing nostalgic about new cruise vessel." I would like to rebut his comments.
As a naval architect I am used to critiques regarding vessel design, however, I feel that the comments that he made were indeed unfounded in fact. If the Cape May and Cape Cod Light (Delta Queen Coastal Voyages' new cruise vessels) were indeed designed to exactly resemble the coastal vessels of the 1920s and '30s they would never sail.
