Isocyanate as main raw material of PU foamed plastics is shifting from the TDI/MDI mixture to the full-MDI system. MDI is penetrating deeper and deeper into the sector of flexible foamed plastics. Production companies are active in the research and development in this sector.
The proportion of the global MDI consumption is 79% for rigid PU, 6% for packing, 4% for transportation, 1% for elastomers and 10% for others.
