By 6 o'clock, Nancy Lucille Tattering was sitting on the floor of her one-room flat in Lower Queen Anne, twirling up swizzle-stick strands of bottle-blond hair, absorbed in the printouts spread around her, the diary entries of Seattle's famed madame, Lou Graham.
Nancy slipped stick after stick of Juicy Fruit in her mouth as she read. She was up to two packs a day. The flavor never lasted.
