U.S. Secretary of Commerce Don Evans named Dr. William Hogarth NOAA fisheries administrator, the top leadership post at the National Marine Fisheries Service, in early September.
Hogarth has served as the NMFS deputy assistant administrator since July 2000 and as acting assistant administrator since January of this year.
He has 16 years' experience in fisheries and natural resources management. He directed NMFS's Southeast and Southwest regional operations, and prior to that he was director of the division of marine fisheries with North Carolina's Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources from 1986 to 1994.
