USE OF TYPE SPECIFIC NUCLEIC ACID PROBES TO HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUS
GAITHERSBURG, Md., Dec. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Life Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: LTEK) announced that it has obtained United States patents (4,849,332; 4,849,331; 4,849,334) covering the composition and use of type specific nucleic acid probes to human papillomavirus (HPV) types 35, 43, and 44. The presence of HPV is commonly associated with a risk of developing cervical cancer. Testing for this virus is emerging as a useful adjunct to the Pap smear.
