The group leading the suburbs' fight against expanding O'Hare International Airport is on the verge of losing a key member.
After a two-year debate, the Des Plaines City Council took a preliminary vote Wednesday to stop paying dues to the Suburban O'Hare Commission next year.
"Right now, we're out," said Des Plaines Mayor Tony Arredia, who was surprised by the decision.
"Not only are we the biggest contributor, but we're a mainstay," he said.
Instead, Des Plaines officials will look into joining the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission, a rival group that ...
