Officials in one of Lake County's flooding hotspots have devised a new plan they hope will dissolve that reputation in the future.
Gurnee typically catches Lake County's attention whenever heavy rain falls - and for good reason. Major floods in the village's Des Plaines River area east of Milwaukee Avenue have occurred six times since 1938, with the most recent being last year.
