The London market charged into positive territory yesterday, marking a complete recovery from Monday's panic selling.

Traders on both sides of the Atlantic had rushed to sell after fears the New York plane crash was another terrorist attack.

But yesterday the signs were pointing towards a tragic accident rather than an act of terror.

It meant the FTSE 100 Index spent the day in a buoyant mood to close up ...
