Nov. 14--Several contractor groups are voicing opposition to the planned use of all-union labor on the Entrada de Santa Barbara project, saying the agreement stifles fair competition and will hurt the local construction industry.
Santa Barbara Beach Properties L.P. -- headed by Bill Levy -- signed a "project labor agreement" earlier this month to use all-union labor to construct the 56 time-share units and retail shops known as Entrada de Santa Barbara along lower State Street. The $100 million project is expected to break ground this summer.
