Instead of sitting at home on a wintry Saturday in February, Jay Chapman of Pulaski suggests spending a day racing through woods in a 50-kilometer cross- country skiing competition held annually in Winona Forest in Boylston.
"It's a fun way to see if you can burn 3,000 calories in one day," said Chapman. He is president of the Tug Hill Ski Club, which organizes the annual skiing event, known as the Tug Hill Tourathon.
The Tug Hill area - where the Tourathon occurs - is just east of Lake Ontario and is popular for winter events such as cross-country skiing and snowmobiling, mainly due to the accumulation of ...
