Is the tide turning in the network evening-news race?
Once a distant No. 2, Peter Jennings' "ABC World News Tonight" is now in a neck-and-neck battle with Tom Brokaw's once-untouchable "NBC Nightly News."
"World News" was the most watched evening newscast last week _ its second consecutive weekly blue ribbon. ABC had 11.4 million viewers to NBC's 10.8 million, and 9.7 million for Dan Rather's "CBS Evening News."
It was ABC's highest viewership since the week of Feb. 21, 2000, and its largest margin over a Brokaw-anchored "Nightly News" since February `99.
