Gov. Kenny Guinn recently named a financial adviser to chair a new state task force on tax policy and to look for ways to generate revenue to help offset an expected $1 billion shortfall.

Guy Hobbs, managing partner of Hobbs, Ong & Associates, will head the eight-member body working on a tax overhaul plan the governor is expected to introduce in January at the beginning of the 2003 Legislature.

Members will be comprised of representatives from business, gaming, mining, education, and health care, and will start as soon as other members are named, according to Hobbs.
