A flurry of bills were being discussed in the House and Senate late last week regarding safeguarding the U.S. food supply on the heels of a statement by Health and Human Service Secretary Tommy Thompson that the nation's food supply could be the target of a terrorist attack. At the same time, the House and Senate passed in record time, the highly publicized antiterrorism act which the President signed on Oct. 26. At one point it was contemplated that food safety be included in that measure.
