WOODLAND HILLS - Toymaker Applause Inc. has cut its 400-person work force by about 10 percent in response to the souring economy and Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Layoffs took place at the Woodland Hills corporate headquarters, Carson warehouse and in its outside sales force, said company President Robert G. Solomon.
Some of the artists at the privately held company were also taken off the payroll, then retained on a free-lance basis, and some other positions were changed to increase productivity and efficiency, he said.
