After the 1996 season, Boston Red Sox general manager Dan -Duquette didn't re-sign Roger Clemens, saying the power pitcher was in the twilight of his career.
The gloaming never looked so bright.
Clemens, 39, won a record sixth American League Cy Young Award on Thursday and his third in the past five years. He finished with 21 of 28 first-place votes and 122 points in voting by members of the Baseball Writers Association of America. Oakland's Mark Mulder received two firsts and was a distant second with 60 points, five ahead of Seattle's Freddy Garcia, who got four first-place votes.
