Nov. 17--Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. will lay off 350 New Jersey workers as part of its transition from a diversified company to one focusing on pharmaceuticals, a company spokesman said Friday.
Bristol-Myers -- which employs 8,000 people at its New Jersey sites, most of which are in Middlesex and Mercer counties -- will spread the cuts across various functions and locations, spokesman Charles Borgognoni said. Overall, Bristol-Myers plans to slash about 1,000 jobs from its entire workforce of 44,000. Borgognoni did not rule out the possibility of more cuts.
