Hurricanes can cause detriment to houses in innumerable ways. The three major ways a hurricane can threaten a house are storm surges, forceful winds, and fallen trees. Homeowners in coastal regions live under the perennial threat of hurricane destruction. If they could identify an architectural style that best withstood hurricane forces, they might be eligible for reduced insurance rates. This research project compares the ability of three different architectural styles of withstand the three major threats of a hurricane.
