THE GILDED AGE WAS A JOINT PROJECT for Samuel Clemens and Charles Dudley Warner, and iii fact it was Clemens's only co-written work of fiction. (1) This commentary on the state of the United States in the 1870s, was an instant success, with an edition released in both the United States and in Britain.
