Noritake Company's group member, Ise Electronics, had scored a considerable impact in the development of the new generation of field-emission displays (FEDs) by prototyping and putting on exhibition, a 4-inch FED in mid 2001, using carbon nanotube emitters, instead of the conventional molybdenum Spindt tips.
The next stage is to produce a carbon nanotube emitters prototype with a 40-inch display, and Noritake expects this to become factual early in 2002.
