Toray Industries Inc. has developed an original form of carbon fibre reinforced plastic of high impact resistance but is thirty times lighter than aluminum. The new material is made by mixing carbon fibres into liquid epoxy resin in the traditional processing manner, but the resin used has a very high viscosity, which says the company, results in a product that is bendable and flexible, but is capable of absorbing high levels of impact.
