Synthetic Catalyst for High Production Level of Even-Quality Resins.(Brief Article)

Mitsui Chemicals Inc. has developed an original catalyst which it says far outperforms Metallocene as a catalyst in the production of high quality resins. This catalyst is composed of a metal, coated by organic phenoxy imine.

The new catalyst, according to Mitsui Chemicals, produces resins with a consistent molecular length and structure at 50 to 75 degrees C, whilst maintaining stable chemical reactions. The production rate achieved during a range of tests averaged 6.5 tonnes of uneven-quality polyethylene resin per hour, which is about one hundred and fifty times that resulting from the use of existing operating catalysts.
