The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science & Technology has developed a technology which uses microgravity to produce magnetostrictive materials displaying twice the conventional amount of physical deformation.
The institute observes that magnetostrictive materials change their shape when they are subjected to a magnetic field.
This large magnetostrictive effect recorded in the Institute's experiments and tests can be employed in the fabrication of devices which have a comparatively large motion, relative to the response generated by a small magnetic force.
