TWO of the unloveliest sights in the House of Commons are the skinny, hairless shins of Brian Sedgemore (Lab, Hackney S). Mr Sedgemore, 64, is one of those rangy, disorganised men whose trousers are too short and whose grey socks seem to have shrunk in the wash.
When he sits down you therefore get an eyeful - a good six inches - of the Sedgemore pins. Think of old man Steptoe on the beach at Clacton and you start to get a feel for the glamour level.
Mr Sedgemore and his flapping trousies were in the Chamber yesterday for the start of a chinstroker of a debate on David Blunkett's antiterrorism laws.
