ABIX via COMTEX) -- Attacks on South Australian (SA) ambulance officers have tripled in the last three years. Figures released by SA Ambulance in late November 2001 show that so far this year there have been 19 reported assaults. This compares with nine in 1998. An ambulance officer was recently hospitalised after being hit by a television set when he attended a domestic dispute. In another incident in November, an officer was hit over the head and repeatedly punched, despite the presence of police. A man later appeared in court charged with assault.
