Research Center for Advanced Carbon Materials - National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science & Technology (AIST) - Report Extract
AIST is in train of a joint project with Mie University on the development of carbon nanotubes to FED. The researchers note, that an electron source using carbon nanotubes has 'excellent' properties, including the fact that no heat is necessary, and a brighter electron beam can be obtained. This differentiates from the conventional heat electron emission format, making carbon nanotubes a top candidate for the next-generation electron source of field emission display.
