Japan Science & Technology Corporation has developed a prototype carbon nanotube fuel cell which has the capacity to power a cellular phone, for up to twenty hours of active usage.

The corporation is predicting that in it's final improved version will be on the commercial market in 2005.

According to the description presented by the corporation, this new energy source has an efficiency rating up to ten times greater than that exhibited by existing rechargeable lithium batteries now utilised in the commercial market.
