This time of year, almost everyone gets the common cold.

Caused primarily by the rhinovirus (not to be confused with the more serious influenza, or flu), a cold generally is a mild infection that goes away without treatment. Yet, the cold is responsible for 26 million lost school days and 23 million lost work days each year.

Attempts to find a cure have been very frustrating, despite great effort.

Until a cure can be found, many of my patients want to know if there's some way to reduce the symptoms of the common cold.
