SAN JOSE, Calif. _ It's Dungeness crab season in the waters surrounding the Bay Area, but for now it seems, the feisty crustaceans have little to worry about.
With the exception of one fisherman _ a man others have dubbed the "crab scab" _ the fleet from Bodega Bay to Half Moon Bay is idle _ on strike until fisherman can negotiate a better price for their product.
Wholesalers are offering $1.75 a pound, but fishermen say they want $2.25 a pound _ the same price they got at the opening of the 2000 season.
