MELBOURNE, Nov 21 Asia Pulse - The future of Australia's biggest independent miner, WMC Ltd (ASX:WMC), could be known by the end of today as its board bunkers down for a meeting with a $A12 billion ($US6.21 billion) takeover offer expected to top its agenda.
Shares in the Melbourne-based company were halted this morning at the request of the company, which alerted the Australian Stock Exchange that it was holding a board meeting.
WMC stock staged a late rally yesterday, closing at $A10.092 ($US5.22), as the rumour mill gained momentum that a bid for the diversified group was imminent.
